š§ ā£ļø Hiya! Omar here, welcome to the Brainclub5000 Newsletter where we share the latest in AI and other creative technology, how creatives, brands and creators can use them and my explorations in this wildspace as a creative director and image maker.
This weekās features

The first physical AI camera (update)
š§ ā£ļø Over the last few weeks, Iāve been exploring the physicality of AI. Adding AI to objects would not only imbue them with incredible skills and knowledge, it could give them personality and purpose.
These āSmart objects 2.0ā will go from being connected to the internet and streams of data, to conversational relationships with the objects around us. Thatās not to say we need to have AI powered smart-toasters but, AI gives smart-object skills that go beyond its physical bounds.
By adding AI to a DIY digital camera, made of the cheapest components, Iāve been able to make the camera āimagineā itās actually Ā£12,000,000 Hasselblad & Arri, from an imagined and impossible collaboration. The AI is able to diffuse images that capture the digital essence of any camera, style and set, all inside the camera.
Iām going to share more in the next few weeks but, I wanted to see the thought that AI and AI content needs to leverage the potential of storytelling for technology beyond mass content generation and the over use of AI powered āRapid Bland Machinesā, which is slowly becoming a thing.

RunwayML Gen 1
š§ ā£ļø The long-awaited tool from AI pioneers, Runway ML is nearly here and itās wild! In their own words āGen-1 is the next step forward for generative AI.ā And thatās not just a bold statement, when you look at what they mean āUse words and images to generate new videos out of existing ones. Realistically and consistently synthesise new videos by applying the composition and style of an image or text prompt to the structure of your source video. It's like filming something new, without filming anything at all - No lights. No cameras. All action.ā
A blog by Runway.ml announced at 5 modes that will be available with Gen 1
Mode 01: Stylisation Transfer the style of any image or prompt to every frame of your video.
Mode 02: Storyboard Turn mockups into fully stylised and animated renders.
Mode 03: Mask Isolate subjects in your video and modify them with simple text prompts.
Mode 04: Render Turn untextured renders into realistic outputs by applying an input image or prompt.
Mode 05: Customisation Unleash the full power of Gen-1 by customising the model for even higher fidelity results.
Iām most excited about the storyboard mode as that will be a whole new level in āArtificial Productionā of content.

ChatGPT+ out in the UK
š§ ā£ļø This is massive and Iām not sure if we know just how much yet. For 20$ a month you get always-on access to ChatGPT+, allowing to to make, create and ideate with an artificial intelligence that constantly surprises and delights. From rapidly generating social posts, emails and other tasks, having ChatGPT in your workflow is going to be vital, because if you arenāt using it - someone else definitely is.
ChatGPT+ would be really beneficial for practically all vertical in the creative industries in a number of ways, including:
Content creation: ChatGPT+ can be used to generate written content, such as articles, social media posts, and product descriptions. This could be particularly useful for businesses in the creative industries, such as advertising and fashion, who need to produce large amounts of high-quality content on a regular basis.
Personalisation: ChatGPT+ can be used to create personalized content and experiences for customers, such as targeted advertisements and tailored product recommendations. This can help businesses in the creative industries to better understand their customers and create content that resonates with them.
Translation: ChatGPT+ can be used to translate content, making it easier for businesses in the creative industries to communicate with international audiences and expand their reach.
Automation: ChatGPT+ can be used to automate tasks such as content creation and social media management, freeing up time and resources for more strategic and creative work.
Collaboration: ChatGPT+ can be used to facilitate collaboration across global teams, by offering language translation, transcription, and voice recognition capabilities.
ChatGPT+ has the potential to help businesses in the creative industries and its creative leaders to be more impactful, effective, and innovative in their content creation and communication efforts - ultimately bringing new value to the customers and bridging between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0.
Stable Diffusion in Your Favourite Design Apps
š§ ā£ļø Thanks to Stable Diffusion being open source, genius builders and makers have been adding it into most of your favourite design apps. Itās been interesting to witness the dynamics of designers-computers. Itās probably best described it as āyour mac signing backā when youāre in the design and creative process.
Figma
Figma has wide range of plugins that give you access to stable diffusion inside the app. Design mock-ups, generate GPT-3 copy and much more. A good place to start is with one of the best plugins.
Ando lets you generate design ideas from texts, shapes, and images, right in Figma.
Photoshop
The elder of the design software world, entire industries, careers and subcultures have Adobeās Photoshop woven into their stories and successes. Photoshop is a tool in the classic sense, it only does what itās used for. With the stable diffusion plugin, you can now ask Photoshop to do a lot more of the work. From in and out-painting, SD lets Photoshop come into its own as a design tool for the next 20 years.
Why you need a Chief AI Officer
š§ ā£ļø Thereās already a lot of new AI experts willing to show you the ropes on AI. Its good and bad, it means that youāll have to upskill to a point youāre happy with and that will take you away from the higher level creative and commerical value you can bring to your business, team and creative industry.
Itās important to ask yourself what your need is from AI and which AI you need. Because there are a lot of tools that can do a lot of things for your business, so identifying where and what your needs are will guide you.
The intention of many AI companies, start-ups and researchers is to make making things easier - ultimately allowing anyone to access AI creativity. My example here is brilliant work of the Midjourney team the virtual impossibility of getting a bad image from their AI.
Soon, every brand will have an in-house āMidjourneyā trained on all brand assets and combined with text tools like ChatGPT+ (and 2.0) and you have infinite creative that can generate personalised content at scale, and be connected to ads managers platforms like TikTok and Instagram
Businesses looking to build out into and use AI would be well advised to a Chief AI Officer (CAIO) that can implement AIs, tools and new processes across businesses, from prompting to generating. CAIOs will be able to guide businesses into a space to leverage these new tools in an ever evolving space where entire departments can be magnified.
