Adobe Firefly, NVIDA Picasso and ChatGPT Plugins... Also, my first book and lot of other...

Welcome to the seventh issue of the Brainclub5000 newsletter, where I’m sharing the latest in AI and creative technology from the perspective of a creative director and what that means as we navigating and exploring thai wild new revolution for creatives, brands and creators

Reimagination of the new Burberry Logo. Text to Design development progress

Seems like every time I write this bit to give a pithy overview of what’s been happening it’s the most incredible moment in time, well this issue is no different - the news from last week has been wild and with companies like Adobe, NVIDIA, Getty and other incumbents entering the AI space, the ubiquity of the platforms means that millions will use AI for the first time.

All image generations are licensed because both Adobe and Getty own billions of images in their respective libraries. The thing that I keep thinking about is will getting micropayments for your creative works used in their models end up paying creatives and creators like music streaming royalties? Will probably be the most important time for the open source community to keep pushing forward!

Enjoy this episode!

BOOK: The Aleph of the Post-Photonic Era: In Praise of the Word

My first book has just hit the digital shelves of your local amazon store in kindle and print. And what a ride it’s been. 12 essays diving into a philosophical exploration of what I’m referring to as the post-photonic era, the photograph loses its place as the truth, because of AI. I explore how never before in human history has there been a token of truth like the photograph, and now we are heading back to when words matter most.

CONTENT: Forget Virtual Production, this is Artificial Production - Finny The FinTech Horse

With the release of GPT4, I wanted to explore a concept I’m calling ‘Artificial Production’ , a fully AI creative pipeline with minimal yet fundamental human creative input and direction. I was looking at various AIs' ability to create coherent and long form narrative, incorporating characters and scripting. Once the creative was complete, other AIs were used in producing the work; two voice overs, storyboard, film and social assets. The goal was to learn how the AI can be used to create absurd and memorable by agencies creators and brands

Finny the Fintech Horse, the endearing mascot of "Fintech Company Name," is dedicated to simplifying complex financial concepts into easily digestible "banana terms" for individuals from all backgrounds. Dressed in a business suit and fueled by organic hay, Finny trains for a triathlon while empowering others with essential financial knowledge.

His relatable and humorous nature, often demonstrated by eating the bananas he uses to explain money terms, creates a welcoming environment for learning and laughter alongside his peers, including other horses and his Fintech bird pal, Beak. As the perfect ambassador, Finny is hard at work behind the scenes, preparing for his public debut and striving to make personal finance education enjoyable and accessible.

WEB APP: Infinite Constellations

"Infinite Constellations," an innovative project that pushes the boundaries of our perception of the night sky. With traditional constellations seemingly unchangeable, this project uses AI-driven code to create an endless array of new celestial patterns, inspired by the transcendent words of the great poet Rumi. By incorporating lines from his timeless poem, "Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there," the AI-generated constellations beautifully embody the spirit of Rumi's message.

"When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language, even the phrase 'each other' doesn't make any sense." These captivating lines from Rumi's poem serve as the foundation for this unique endeavor, as the AI code weaves together an intricate tapestry of celestial designs. This creative fusion of poetry, technology, and astronomy breathes new life into the stars, inviting us to explore the infinite possibilities that emerge when human expression and artificial intelligence collide.

"Infinite Constellations" not only pays homage to Rumi but also challenges the limits of our understanding of the cosmos. By using AI to craft a dynamic and ever-changing celestial landscape, we are encouraged to reimagine the night sky and embrace the boundless potential of technology. As we continue to explore the capabilities of AI and its applications in the arts, the door is opened to a world of uncharted creativity and inspiration, transcending the limitations of our imagination.

NEWS:

Adobe Firefly

AI for Everyone Adode announced their own generative AI product called Firefly and told us how they plan to incorporate AI into the reset of their fleet of products that power the creative industries. This is a fundamental step for AI as this will lead to its complete incorporation into our creative processes, from ideation to production, final assets and delivery. This means most creatives and creators won't need to learn classic prompting and the walls of accessibility to AI will fall away in the sense of skill but, will be replaced with paywalls. Which is why companies like Stable Diffusion will become more important to accessibility to AI for the masses, with people running on mobile phones and even Raspberry Pis’ Join the beta and see how you can make it work for your creative processes or just find out more here -

NVIDIA AI - Nvidia's GTC Event

Probably the most important announcement of the last few weeks is what NVIDIA, the people behind the processors that power AI, had to announce at their GTC event. A suite of enterprise AI tools that have such massive ramifications that its mind blowing.

Businesses will be able to train their own multi-modal AI, using any data and content. Marketing materials, archive designs, research, logistics and pretty much anything else And turn that into Images, Videos, 3D, Text and any resulting combination. Meaning that brands will be able to create brand new visions of themselves, forecast briefs and creative needs passed on predictions on their data rather than seeking expertise outside of themselves.

A new era for the in-house agency? Could advertising position itself as the expert in navigating this space, especially considering the rapid digestion of start ups by GPT4 and AGI when it arrives? So many questions!

Unity AI - Text to Gaming

Imagine being able to turn your ideas into playable games just by typing in your ideas? Well, Unity may have you covered, I’m waiting for the beta access but, it looks like text to game will be here soon and the impact it will have on creative, especially image making, metaverse and events will be massive.

Not many details yet, a speculation is that description to immersive experience will work alongside NPC AI and interaction, highly interactive spaces that amplify the voice and creativity of creators and agencies as wholly new experiences and formats for storytelling emerge.

TOOLS:

Be My Eyes

Be My Eyes is an innovative project with the mission to make the world more accessible for people who are blind or have low vision. Founded in 2015, the project has since connected 6.3 million volunteers with users in need of assistance for everyday tasks. The latest addition to the project is the Virtual Volunteer tool, currently in beta testing, which leverages the power of AI to further improve accessibility and independence for users.

The Virtual Volunteer feature integrates OpenAI's GPT-4 language model, including a dynamic image-to-text generator, into the existing Be My Eyes app. Users can send images to the AI-powered Virtual Volunteer, which then provides instant visual assistance for a wide range of tasks. What sets this tool apart is its deep understanding of context and advanced conversational ability, surpassing current digital assistant offerings. The Virtual Volunteer can not only identify objects in a photo, but also analyze and provide relevant information or suggestions based on the image. If the AI is unable to answer a question, users can still connect to a sighted volunteer for assistance. This powerful new tool is being tested among a small subset of users, with plans for broader availability in the coming months. Be My Eyes aims to continuously improve the technology and user experience based on community feedback, ultimately expanding the scope and capabilities of this innovative virtual assistant.

ChatGPT Plugins

OpenAI has recently introduced ChatGPT Plugins, a powerful new feature that enables users to customise and enhance their ChatGPT experience. By integrating plugins, users can now instruct the model more effectively to perform specific tasks such as providing explanations, translating text, or generating code. This exciting update makes it possible for creators to build their own plugins or combine existing ones to streamline their workflow and optimise their AI interactions.

Creators can benefit from these plugins in a variety of ways. For instance, they can utilise translation plugins to effortlessly communicate with their global audience, breaking language barriers and expanding their reach. Creators can leverage content generation plugins to brainstorm new ideas, draft engaging social media posts, or even write scripts for their videos. They can use summarisation plugins to quickly digest and share the latest news or trending topics with their followers, ensuring their content stays relevant and up-to-date. Overall, ChatGPT Plugins promise to revolutionise the way influencers interact with AI, saving time and boosting their creative output.

Gen 2

RunwayML's Gen 2, a groundbreaking machine learning platform that empowers creatives to harness the power of AI for film and content creation is in beta. With its user-friendly interface and seamless integration, Gen 2 enables artists and filmmakers to tap into the limitless potential of AI-driven tools for designing, animating, and editing content. The platform offers a wide array of pre-trained models, making it easier than ever to incorporate cutting-edge technology into your creative workflow.

The possibilities with Gen 2 are boundless, with three notable use cases being: Automatic scene generation, where AI populates a film's background with realistic and context-appropriate elements; AI-assisted character animation, enabling filmmakers to create lifelike and emotionally engaging characters with ease; and real-time visual effects generation, allowing creators to explore and implement stunning effects without the need for time-consuming post-production processes.

As Gen 2 continues to evolve and develop, it brings us one step closer to the concept of Artificial Production, where the majority of creative assets for the creative industries will be generated artificially. This innovative platform not only streamlines content production but also promises to revolutionize the way we approach and consume art in the digital age.

Finally…

The rapid evolution of technology presents an essential opportunity for creatives, agencies, and brands to embrace AI and redefine their workflows, fostering fresh ideas, voices, and platforms. Integrating AI into the creative process enables businesses to harness its vast potential to generate unique and engaging content while streamlining production and encouraging innovation.

It is crucial to recognise that AI amplifies creativity rather than replacing it; the distinction between mediocre AI-generated content and content that achieves commercial and cultural success lies in the creative input that drives it. For those who believe AI replaces creativity, it may be an indication of their own lack of innovation.

By leveraging AI as a tool to enhance and support the creative process, stakeholders can adapt to the changing landscape, amplifying their impact and fostering a more inclusive, dynamic, and forward-thinking creative ecosystem.

Let’s AI.
