Hello!

I’m Omar, and this is my (first!) newsletter on Creative, AI and other technologies. I’m starting it because I believe that these new technologies will upend and change the way we create ideas for people, community and culture and the impact it will have on the creative industries will be tectonic - from advertising to production, fashion and luxury and everything in between and beyond!

AIs are already in the hands of millions more that when I really started focusing on this area a couple of years ago as tools became more accessible. Now, young people are sharing prompt suggestions for a myriad of use cases for powerful AIs like ChatGPT - excuses, essays and even side hustles!

New technologies represent surprising and delightful ways for brands, creators and agencies to connect to people, be personal at scale and add more value to every interaction - the assistance of AI, the immersion of NeRFs and the value of items on the blockchain.

We’ll be looking at these technologies from multiple angles, including their potential for innovation, challenges they may present, and best practices for utilising them in creative projects.

Whether you're a founder, CMO, ECD, designer, visual artist, copywriter, or any other type of creative professional, my intention is for this newsletter to provide you with valuable insights and inspiration for incorporating these new technologies into your work.

AI represents a step change in how we create, it gives scalability to ideas, builds campaigns, and can even generate metaphors, irony and absurdist humour that is remarkable and memorable.

AI has the potential to remove the tedium of Creative and instead allow ideas to flourish. Give them a go and see what you can create.

Dreamstudio.ai - The Lite version of the coming and I expect, a groundbreaking tool from Stability AI. Dream studio lets anyone play and create visuals using open-source AI. It’s super accessible and comes with free image generation on signup

ChatGPT - This can create ideas, copy, stories, and prompts for Dreamstudio and virtually any other word-based creative. Keep in mind why anyone would want to read AI-created content.

Midjourney - A Text-to-Image AI that has come on leaps and bounds, in V4, it has become the first AI only aesthetic, it’s immediately recognisable. Accessible through a discord bot, it has a thriving community and you get to see what others are making, and what they’re asking the AI. AI and Diversity - AI is a reflection of those who are making it and could very easily reinforce and industrialise exclusion on a grand scale. It is vital for me to include, celebrate and platform as many people as possible. I was talking to someone about the ‘AI body bias' - including gender and race, and what could be done to counterbalance the uniformity of what the AI sees and understands as Beauty.

Glossary of Terms

GPT-3 - A Text-to-Text AI. essentially a creative companion with a brain, able to generate surprising and brilliant outputs. Just ask it a question

ChatGPT - a smaller version of GPT-3, accessible anywhere via chat and immediately the most talked about AI ever.

AI - AI stands for Artificial Intelligence. It means making machines and computers that can think and learn like people. Just like how you learn new things every day, AI can also learn new things and make decisions on its own. It's like having a robot friend who can think and do things for you!

Diffusion AI - AI can make pictures using a technique called "diffusion." It's kind of like using a special computer program to mix and blend colors and shapes to make a new image. It's like using your imagination to create something new, but instead of using paint or markers, the computer does it for you! It's really cool because it can make all sorts of interesting and unique designs that you might not be able to think of on your own. It's like having a virtual artist that can come up with new and exciting ideas for you!

I'm a creative director, visual artist and strategist based in London. For the last 14 years, I've worked with advertising agencies, brands, teams and clients on 360 advertising campaigns, and content. events, publishing and shoots, helping them find the best results by harnessing the power of creativity.

For the past two years, I've been at Meta, exploring AI for creativity through a range of real-world applications and products, gaining subject matter expertise in AI, web 3 and Metaverse spaces.
